Savinho was instrumental in City’s attacking play, giving Arsenal’s new boy Riccardo Calafiori an opening test of 20 minutes. His quick feet and guile left the Italian defender speechless, leading Savinho to flick a perfectly weighted pass into the path of Erling Haaland, putting City ahead.
Wearing number 26, running at defenders with a slalom-like attack and cutting in with a deadly left foot – he’s starting to look like Riyad Mahrez.
Honorable Mention
If Guardiol: 7/10
The Croatian defender made a good display from the left side. Alongside his typical calm nature at the back, Gvardiol added an attacking potency to his game against the Gunners.
Although he didn’t get on the scoresheet, his attacking forays gave City an alternative option going forward. He forced a smart save from David Raya, sending a powerful volley home, almost giving City the big lead they needed.
City’s big money signing at the back has shown once again that it has the minerals for vital events.
Ruben Dias – 4/10
Rubén Dias’ positioning was the key reason why City found it impossible to break down Arsenal’s backline for so long.
Whenever he was on the ball, the game slowed down. Whenever he took it upon himself to initiate City’s moves, any momentum died with him.
If Phil Foden, for example, had been in his place, this would not have been a problem. But for Dias, his positioning, awareness and general lack of ability to get forward in the forward game meant he had a bad afternoon in Manchester.
