According to reports in Times of India, it is known that Mallika Sagar will conduct the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction. The event will take place on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah.
Mallika Sagar is a well-known name in Indian cricket and has quite a bit of experience in the field. She has handled the Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction in the past, replacing Hugh Edmeades for the 2024 edition of the cash-rich league.
Mallika Sagar has two decades of experience as an auctioneer
Mallika Sagar, who became the first woman auctioneer last year, has two decades of experience as an auctioneer. Based on his success, he was asked to continue in the role by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Earlier, IPL auctions were held only by men. People like Richard Madley, Hugh Edmeades and Charu Sharma are doing this. Apart from the IPL, Mallika Sagar conducted the auction for the eighth edition of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL).
The IPL 2025 auction to be hosted by Mallika Sagar will be one of the biggest ever as all the teams will have a huge purse of INR 120 crores. The franchises have also named the list of retained and released players and this time some big names will be up for auction and it’s fair to say some massive records have been broken.

A total of 1,574 players (1,165 Indian and 409 overseas) will be part of the IPL 2025 auction. Of the total number of players, 320 will be accomplished players, 1,224 unaccomplished players and 30 from Associate Nations. Also, a total of 204 slots will be contested as each team will have to fill a maximum squad of 25 players.
Punjab Kings will have the biggest purse in the IPL 2025 auction
Going into the IPL 2025 auction, Punjab Kings will have the largest remaining purse of INR 110.5 crore. This is because they have retained only two players, Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh, for a total of INR 9.5 crore. On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals have the smallest purse of INR 41 crore after retaining maximum six players along with Kolkata Knight Riders.
Kolkata Knight Riders will have a purse of INR 51 crore to spend in the auction. Franchises Trials are being held with Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians RCB, LSG are likely to be after them November 16.
