The AW team looks back at an unforgettable Olympics and hears from Keeley Hodgkinson’s coach and training partners about the work it takes to win gold.
The Athletics Weekly Podcast is back! In this latest episode, host Ewan Crumley joins AW: Executive Director and Olympic silver medalist Wendy Slay as well AW: Head of Digital Jason Henderson to review the brilliant games of 2024 and look back at the best moments from Paris.
One of them was from Britain’s Keely Hodgkinson, who won gold in the women’s 800m. Also joining the podcast is one of her coaches, Jenny Meadows, as well as three of her training partners, Erin Wallace, Charlie Hobson and Ava Lloyd, to learn more about the environment that helped her become a champion.
From what it’s like to train alongside Keeley to the sessions that made a difference, there are some fascinating insights into life as part of the M11 Track Club, run by Meadows and her husband Trevor Painter.
The interview is excerpted from the cover of our September issue of AW, out now.
The season isn’t over yet, of course, and the podcast also sees the team look forward to the Paralympics, plus the final events of this memorable athletics summer and the start of the autumn road racing season.
