Madrimov Set for January 24 Return Against Salazar

Matchroom released a short training video of Israil Madrimov on social media ahead of his comeback fight later this month. Madrimov will face Luis David Salazar in a ten round junior middleweight contest on January 24, 2026.

The fight will serve as the main support on the Andy Cruz vs. Raymond Muratalla card, which will stream on DAZN. This will be Madrimov’s first fight since suffering back-to-back defeats in 2025.

Madrimov lost by stoppage to Vergil Ortiz Jr. in February 2025, followed by a decision loss to Terence Crawford in August. His promoter Eddie Hearn has since stated that Madrimov entered the Ortiz fight while dealing with a chest infection, which affected his preparation and performance.

Hearn also maintained that Madrimov deserved the decision in the Crawford fight, a view shared by some observers. Despite these arguments, the losses remain on his record. Madrimov now stands at 10 wins, 2 losses and 1 draw.

The upcoming fight against Salazar represents an opportunity for Madrimov to recover after a difficult year at the top level. Salazar steps in as a lower-profile opponent, but the fight still provides Madrimov with rounds and activity after a long layoff.

The fight is scheduled to take place at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas.
