Luca Cadallora shares what is never ‘easy’ to tell Valentino Rossi as a coach.


Valentino Rossi called on three-time world champion Luca Cadalora for help when he was trying to add to his seven MotoGP rider titles during his time at Yamaha in the 2010s.

Rossi He is one of the most successful riders in the history of the premier class, but the Italian scored all the title wins in the 2000s. Luca Cadallora doesn’t find it ‘easy’ to tell Valentino Rossi where he needs to improve.

Cadallora had his own successful motorcycle racing career between 1984 and 2000. The native of Modena, Italy started out in the 125cc class and won the title in 1986. Cadallora moved up to the 250cc class in 1987, and won intermediate titles in 1991 and 1992.

Rossi has finally seen the benefits of employing Cadallora as a rider coach in his bid to win his first MotoGP title since 2009. However, Cadallora admits that he does not find it “easy” to say where he needs to improve now that he has accompanied him in every competition for three years.

Cadallora said. Moto.it: “No, it wasn’t easy. It wasn’t easy at all. But on some tracks, sometimes it’s hard to remember riders because riders sometimes forget and delete things.

“For example, at Phillip Island, there’s a corner that you take after the right-hander. It has a characteristic that creates special problems, and maybe it’s something you can remind them to do to get the best.”

Rossi won the first of seven premier class titles in 2001 in the final 500cc class season against Nastro Azzurro Honda. The Urbino native won his second premier class title in 2002 after joining the factory Honda team in the first campaign of the MotoGP era.

Another title followed with Honda in 2003, before Rossi moved to Yamaha in 2004 and won another championship. In the year More titles followed with Yamaha in 2005, 2008 and 2009, but he would have his best finishes of second in 2014, 2015 and 2016, before finally retiring in 2021.
