LPGA Pro Sarah Schmelzel is not afraid to show a little emotion in the Golf Course. In fact, she would argue that it is what she is best known for.
Schmelzel, 30-year-old Pro, was guest on this week’s episode of Podcast Subpar of Golf And she discussed how she entered Golf, her life in the LPGA Tour, the Solheim Cup 2024 and much more. She also talked about her fiery personality on the course (she broke her first club at the age of 8, she says).
“I was crazy of getting,” she joked. “I literally jumped into my golf club. I didn’t know the shafts broke down.”
But that competition, she says, is an important part of her game.
“I would say I realized that it better serves me to play a little more ardent than to be really giggly and excited and that kind of thing,” she said. “I would love to be that way. I would like to be able to hit a shot and smile and be like, Ok is okay, it’s goodBut I think it departs from the intensity I have when I play.
“I need to close in a stroke and somehow have a strong emotion for this,” she continued. “I’m not happy when hitting bad shots; I don’t think someone really is. I think I can channel it in times that are a little unhealthy, but I think if I stay channeling it in a way to ignite and like, how, like. hey, you are better than that, go hit another brilliantInstead of being like my viral moment. “
That viral moment she is referring to? It happened when TV broadcast caught it by hitting a poor shot during the 2024 KPMG women’s PGA Championship. “F – you, Sarah,” she muddled.

She only learned about the video after her brother Texmoi, “You’ve gone viral.” Although it turns out that a large number of golf fans wanted Schmelzel’s fair rating.
