Liverpool are said to be interested in the potential transfer of Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap as they attempt to replicate their past success by cashing in on the sale of Dominic Solanke.

Delap has been impressing in the Premier League for Ipswich this season, scoring seven goals and providing two assists in 18 games so far.

The 21-year-old has been on the books of Manchester City in the past but is finally seizing his chance to play regularly in the Premier League.

Still, Delap has long looked like a player with potential, and Anfield Watch have reported on how Liverpool previously tried to sign him under Jurgen Klopp.

The plan was apparently for Liverpool to try to replicate the success they had with Solanke, who has since secured a number of moves to benefit the Reds due to a sell-on clause in his sale.

One imagines Delap is now proven enough that LFC could legitimately look to bring him in as an upgrade to Darwin Nunez up front.

Liverpool have been linked with the possible sale of Núñez and a move to sign Marcus Thuram from Inter Milan as his substitute in a report of TEAMtalk.

Delap, meanwhile, has also been linked with Chelsea in recent times for Simon Phillips and others, so it seems clear that there could soon be a big battle for his signature.

Delap could also fit in well at Chelsea, where Enzo Maresca could benefit from providing an upgrade from the inconsistent Nicolas Jackson.

Still, Liverpool appear to be ahead of Chelsea in their project at the moment, so the Englishman could see Anfield as a more tempting destination than Stamford Bridge.
