Liverpool will receive a surprise bid for Trent Alexander-Arnold

Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold is in the final six months of his contract at Anfield and questions are being raised over his long-term future.

The England international has onehe aroused the interest of Real Madridwho are now desperate to sign him this year.

The La Liga giants are on the lookout for a new right-back and want the Liverpool star to be their latest Galactico signing.

Alexander-Arnold’s failure to sign a new contract at Anfield is working in favor of Carlo Ancelotti’s side, but they are now ready to use the January transfer window rather than wait until the summer to sign the Liverpool defender.

According to Sky Sports reporter Melissa Reddy, Real Madrid are willing to pay “more than £20m” to secure the signing of Alexander-Arnold before he arrives as a free agent.

The Reds have made it clear they have no interest in selling their star defender in the winter transfer window as it could derail their chances of winning the Premier League title.

“For Real Madrid, it tells us unequivocally that Trent Alexander-Arnold is their main full-back target and that there is no other alternative they are really considering.” the Sky Sports said the reporter.

“They’re willing to pay more than £20m to get a deal done now before his free agency. So they’re making it very clear that he’s their man and they’re willing to pay for him, they’re willing to do the deal earlier than planned and are ready to make a push now.

“It must be said that Real would never have approached Liverpool if they had never received encouragement from the end of the player. I must emphasize at this point that it does not mean at all that Trent has been open to leaving Liverpool in January or that he wants to leave Liverpool in January.

“We have to remember that he is in the middle of a contract negotiation, so it is to his advantage that Real Madrid show their hand, so that Liverpool know his intentions and can make him an offer worth considering.

“I think he’s actually in an incredibly strong position in terms of this negotiation.”

What’s next for Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold?

Either in January or in the summer transfer window, his departure from the club seems inevitable at this stage.

Getting a fee in excess of £20m would not make a huge difference to Liverpool and allowing the player to leave in January would only work against them and their hopes of winning the league title.

Either they have to keep the player at the club at all costs or wait until the end of the season to allow him to leave the club.

Arne Slot’s team are currently favorites to win the league and one of the favorites to win the Champions League. A major change in their squad could affect their chances of silverware this season.
