Liverpool “relaxed” on the contracts of Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk

Liverpool are said to be “relaxed” with the contract situations of both Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, who are days away from entering the final six months of their respective contracts.

Both stars remain among the best right now, but are seeing their current deals edging ever closer to expiring, with Van Dijk and Salah free to discuss contracts with clubs abroad as early as January.

However, as he points out The TimesLiverpool are well aware that the tight January deadline is almost always taken advantage of behind the scenes, with both Van Dijk and Salah likely to be aware of offers on the table elsewhere.

Officials believe the duo want to stay Liverpool despite interest in his services, with Anfield chiefs unconcerned that negotiations could drag on for months to come.

Offers have been made to both players and Liverpool will continue talks with Van Dijk and Salah in the hope of sealing two blockbuster contract extensions.

However, that same confidence is not shared when it comes to right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose contract is also coming to an end.

Inform Spain that Alexander-Arnold has communicated his desire to join Real Madrid have been rejected by the Liverpool ECHObut there is an acceptance that talks with the defender are different to those involving Van Dijk and Salah because Alexander-Arnold is only 26 and still has a significant career ahead of him.
