Liverpool return to Anfield after the September international break for Arne Slot’s second competitive game in front of a home crowd against Nottingham Forest this Saturday.
Having won their first three Premier League games under the former Feyenoord boss at a relative gallop, including a 3-0 win over Manchester United last time out, the Reds will look to maintain their perfect record when Forest visit Merseyside.
With things going well for Slot, he will be reluctant to make changes from the side that dismantled Man Utd two weeks ago. There are some fitness concerns though, including midfielder Harvey Elliott who has some he fractured his foot during the international period.
Here’s how Liverpool could line up against Forest.
GK: Alisson – The Brazilian kept another clean sheet on international duty to add to the three he already claimed in 2024/25. Even in solid defensive displays, Alisson has still produced some important signature saves.
RB: Trent Alexander-Arnold – Having been used in his main position for England by Lee Carsley, the Liverpool defender starred in the recent Three Lions. Victory 2-0 about Finland He has started life under Slot with confidence.
CB: Ibrahima Konata – The centre-back received criticism for his performance against Italy during the international break, but it has been flawless for Slot so far. Your fitness will be tested by forest forward Chris Wood on Saturday.
CB: Virgil van Dijk – Despite everything, the Liverpool skipper has led by example in the first few weeks of the campaign speculation about his future at the club On current form, the Reds cannot afford to lose him for free next summer.
LB: Andy Robertson – After an injury-plagued 2023/24, Robertson has been on form and dismissed Slot in the opening weeks of his reign. Although he has yet to reach his lofty standards, he has been solid defensively for Liverpool.
DM: Alexis McAllister – Liverpool fans had a scare when Mac Allister withdrew against Chile through injury during the international break. However, the Argentine midfielder was a substitute in the next match against Colombia and will be in action this weekend.
DM: Ryan Gravenberch – Having embraced the six role for club and country, Gravenberch is enjoying an outstanding start to the season. The Dutchman has been wonderful in and out of possession at the base of midfield.
RW: Mohamed Salah – The Egyptian put Man Utd back to the sword before the international break with a goal and two assists and has been involved in six of Liverpool’s seven goals this season. It’s still the talisman above.
AM: Dominik Szoboszlai – Although it does not function as a traditional number ten, Szoboszlai has started the 2024/25 academic year encouragingly after a difficult end to his debut campaign in England. No Liverpool player has created more chances (eight) than him this season.
LW: Luis Diaz – The end product has often been what’s been missing from Diaz’s game, but that has changed at the start of the new season. A brace against Man Utd followed a goal and assist against Brentford.
ST: Diogo Jota – The Portuguese seems to have secured the new spot for now ahead of Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo. His work rate and intelligence make him a constant threat in the final third.
