Liverpool fans were left stunned during the first half of their Champions League clash with RB Leipzig as Alexis Mac Allister was shown a strange booking for a foul.
The The Reds went into the clash looking to maintain their 100 per cent start in their European campaign after securing wins over AC Milan and Bologna in the first two matches of the new Champions League format.

Leipzig were yet to win a game in Europe this season, but the Premier League club were expected to provide a tough test as Marco Rose’s men have made a strong start to their domestic campaign as they currently occupy the second place in the Bundesliga.
Sandro Scharer, the Swiss referee in charge of the clash, stopped early with a penalty on Castello Lukeba after just eight minutes.
However, Liverpool fans were stunned four minutes later, as the Swiss official booked Mac Allister for diving after the Argentina star was taken out in the middle of the park. The decision was puzzling and left one of the Reds’ key men playing more than 75 minutes on thin ice.

The importance of Alexis MacAllister to Liverpool
Mac Allister has been a key player since joining Liverpool last summer and that has continued during the current campaign under Arne Slot.
The Argentina star has featured 12 times for the Merseyside club this season and has been consistent the heart of the Dutch coach’s team alongside Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai.
