Liverpool have confirmed that the canceled Merseyside derby last month has been rearranged for Wednesday 12 February.
The Reds were scheduled to make the short trip to Everton in early December, just for the the event will be postponed after severe weather warnings left Merseyside Police advising against unnecessary travel.
Both sides have been operating with games in hand against their opponents, but things will be tied next month Liverpool do the stone throw again at Goodison Park.
It will almost certainly be the last Merseyside derby at Goodison, with everton they moved to their new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock at the end of the season. The only exception would be for both sides to win their respective FA Cup fourth round ties and pool later.
Crucially, this match date is subject to Liverpool’s performance in the Champions League as it falls on the same date as the knockout round. The Reds currently sit top of the table and need just a point from their remaining two games to secure automatic qualification for the last 16, which is almost certain to come anyway given their commanding position in the standings.
Liverpool also sit top of the Premier League, opening up a commanding lead over Nottingham Forest, Arsenal and Chelsea despite playing a game less than those around them.
Everton, meanwhile, have done it just welcomed david moyes back to the dugout as they seek to climb away from the drop zone. The Toffees currently hold a one-point lead at the tip-off.
