Liverpool are increasing their interest in the potential transfer of the right-back from Bayer Leverkusen Jeremie Frimpong as replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold.

This according to a report by the daily briefingwho claim the Reds are increasingly concerned about the future of Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is nearing the end of his contract at Anfield.

The report says that Real Madrid are very interested in Alexander-Arnold, while other top-flight clubs such as Manchester City, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are also said to have held some talks over signing the international english

While Alexander-Arnold would be a very difficult player to replace, Frimpong surely looks like one of the best options for the Merseyside giants after his excellent form for Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen side.

One imagines a talent like Frimpong will have other suitors as well, but it seems LFC are doing their bit to try and get ahead of the competition in the race for his signature, according to the Daily Briefing.

The Dutch international seems well-suited to Arne Slot’s style of footballand it will be interesting to see if he can really fill the void left by Alexander-Arnold if he leaves.

Frimpong has shown great potential in his time in the Bundesliga, hitting double figures in goals and assists last season as he played a starring role in Leverkusen’s surprise title success.

Frimpong appears to have all the ingredients to be a success at Liverpool or other top-flight clubs, but one imagines most Reds fans would prefer to keep Alexander-Arnold.

However, there has been no progress on the 26-year-old’s new contract and it may appear that the club are increasingly resigned to losing him and preparing for the future at right-back.
