During the last decade, the UEFA Champions League final has begun not only with fireworks, but also musical. In a tradition that increasingly reflects the show at the Half Hour of the Super Bowl, UEFA invites a recognized artist or band worldwide to perform just before the largest game of the World Football Club.
In previous years, the tastes of Alicia Keys, Imagine Dragons, Peas Black Eyed and Lenny Kravitz have taken the stage. This time it was Linkin Park’s turn shine.
Directed by founding member Mike Shinoda and vocalist Emily Armstrong, who intervened after Chester Bennington’s tragic Pass in 2017, the group delivered a four -song dramatic to Allianz Arena. Its set included “the vacuum machine”, “at the end”, “asleep” and “heavy is the crown”.
Complete with pyrotechnics, moody views and a massive ovation, it seemed that the legends of nude had touched all the correct notes with the crowd.
But while Linkin Park struggled so strongly and has arrived so far, in the end, it was not enough for Marco Van Bastten.
The Dutch football legend did not resist his brutal pre-party program review, explainingZiggo Sport: “Linkin Park’s performance was garbage, absolutely rubbish. It is a disbaux that uefa allows it.”
Although he reviewed the band’s name, Van Bastten’s frustration was clearly directed to the concept than to the performers themselves. The ex -this Ballon d’Or, argued that the show distracts players just before the start of the start, at a time when they should focus and warm up on the pitch.
“I find absolutely idiotic,” he addedhit all production as “worthless, totally useless”.
Clearly, for Van Bastten, the pre-party show feels like a step closer to ruining the beautiful game.
