Sunrisers Eastern Cape (SEC) all-rounder Liam Dawson produced a spectacular performance against Durban Super Giants (DSG) in the 14th match of the SA20 2025 season. Liam Dawson produced a stunning one-handed catch to send JJ Smuts back to the dugout, leaving fans and players stunned.
Durban Super Giants captain Keshav Maharaj won the toss and elected to bat first at St Georges Park in Qkeberha on Sunday 19 January. However, their batting line-up struggled early as Sunrisers Eastern Cape players Marco Jansen and Richard Gleeson went through the top order and reduced the score. them by 4/18.

The fourth wicket was JJ Smuts and credit goes to fielder Liam Dawson for that. The moment of the match happened in the 6th over of Durban’s innings. Richard Gleeson bowled a full delivery around the stumps line. Smuts committed to getting out of the way, but tried to adjust his shot and ultimately failed.
The ball was heading for the boundary but Dawson moved to his right and made an extraordinary catch. The catch stunned Smuts and even stunned Quinton de Kock, who couldn’t believe his eyes from the dressing room. It was one of the best games of the tournament.

Sunrisers Eastern Cape comfortably chase down the target in 15.2 Overs
Sunrisers Eastern Cape bowlers, led by Marco Jansen and Richard Gleeson, bowled out Durban Super Giants for a paltry 115/8 in 20 overs. Kane Williamson’s patient 44 was the Super Giants’ only significant contribution, while Naveen-ul-Haq added a quickfire 30 off 15 balls.
