Scottie Scheffler, Lee Trevino says, is “peach”.
And “a super individual.”
And “incredible”.
But Trevino is also afraid.
Reason? Scheffler’s Recent experimentation of placement. The last known change came when he discovered A claw Last December, and that followed a switch just over a year ago in Taylormade Spider Malli Putterand starting work in 2023 with the placement of the coach Phil Kenyon.
Trevino’s concern apparently came from the grip. Before using it, Scheffler had won eight times, including one second Masters AND a golden Olympic medal – Although on his first tour with him, hero World Challenge, Scheffler also won.
“He’s just a beautiful guy,” Trevino said Thursday morning Golf Channel’s coverage of Championship. “I mean, he is a super individual. I mean, we couldn’t have a better number one … He’s incredible.
“Right now, here’s what scares me, is he starting to experiment with his putter. He is experimenting with different nails now, and he has changed control. And earning seven tours and $ 62 million was not enough, God depends.”
At that point, Trevino laughed. As for why Scheffler would make the move? When he started using it, he said It was something he and Kenyon were “entered around” and that he saw “benefits” with him.
“I’m always looking for small ways to improve,” Scheffler said at the time.
Interestingly, Scheffler conversation started with a question if Trevino would ever return to TV analysis, which led to this exchange:
The notifier said Mark Rolfing: “But is this something you would ever consider to do again with …”
Said Trevino: “Don’t mention it either.”
Said Rolfing: “Well, I just did.”
Said Trevino: “Because if you offer me $ 90, my wife will make me get the job. Indeed, my wife will make me get the job, you know. If I would like to enter television, yes, I wouldn’t think about making it part of it, maybe. I really think we have to explain the equipment and things. In other words, for him, you know, for the person you are buying there.
“But I study these people the way they play. They are all inside now. I know because I have always been a great believer to hit a golf ball, you should try to enter at 7 o’clock. I always told you – 7 o’clock.”
In short, 7 o’clock refers to Making contact inside – and Trevino said he has an eye on those who use it. Specifically, he named Michael kim – “a player there that impressed me a little” – and Xander schauuffle.
And Scheffler.
“Scottie enters more than anyone else because his leg turns,” Trevino said Golf. “And when your foot comes back, you will come in more.…
“I said. You’re cheating, boy, you’re hitting the ball in 8.”
