Arsenal star Leandro Trossard is being singled out for criticism after the Gunners suffered another defeat last night against Inter Milan in the Champions League.
A Hakan Calhanoglu penalty in first-half injury time was enough to give Inter a 1-0 win over Mikel Arteta’s side, who also lost 1-0 at home to Newcastle in the Premier League last weekend.
Trossard has had the difficult task of trying to replace Martin Odegaard’s spark in midfield, and it’s fair to say it’s not going well for the Belgium international.
Several media have given Trossard a very low score for his performance against Inter, with goal among those who gave it just 4/10 as they slammed its “sloppy” display.

Meanwhile, the to express he also gave it only 4/10 and noted that he was often in the wrong positions, too far away from main leader Kai Havertz.

Leandro Trossard blocking Ethan Nwaneri?
While anyone would struggle to replace Odegaard in Arsenal’s midfield, there are reasons to say they have a better option than Trossard in the form of the wonderful Ethan Nwaneri.
Watch below as AFTV argue Nwaneri starts over Trossard after he made a positive impact coming off the bench against Inter last night…

Trossard has had some very positive moments in an Arsenal shirt, but it is clear that he is struggling at the moment, so it might be wise for Mikel Arteta to let him go soon.
On the one hand, it doesn’t make much sense to keep picking a more experienced player who isn’t performing if it’s going to make the team worse while locking up a great talent like Nwaneri.
We’ve seen the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Jack Wilshere make an impact at Arsenal at this age before, and Nwaneri is clearly up to the task.
Trossard has often performed better as a super sub anyway, so having him on the bench as an option to bring him in later in games could be just what is required to help him get back into shape.
