A leaked video of an old sparring session between Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney has been uploaded to social media. It shows Garcia outworking Haney and dominating him the same way he did last April. The only difference is that Haney was wearing headgear, which may have saved him during this session.
The video shows Garcia repeatedly lighting up Haney with his left hook KO punch, forcing him to hold on like a Sea Lamprey. Haney looked in distress during the one-sided sparring with Ryan, hammered and lacking the strength to keep the stronger fighter away.
This is exactly how their fight played out last April, but the only difference was that Ryan looked at Haney with left hooks in close as he was holding on.
The video shows that powerful left hook KO artist Ryan Garcia’s win over Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) was not because he had Ostarine in his system for their April 20 fight at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York not.
Ryan is a better fighter, with more speed, power and ability in the professional ranks than Haney. The two split their six fights in the amateur ranks at 3-3, but it’s a different story in the pros. Ryan put on size, and his left hook, along with his hand speed, was pure kryptonite for Haney.

It may not be worth the trouble for the promoters to put together a rematch between Garcia and Haney in 2025. The sparring video clip shows that Ryan is on a different level than Haney, and will beat him just as bad in the rematch as the first fight.
It could be worse for Haney, as he was probably saved from a knockout last time out by the referee, who inexplicably stopped the action in the seventh round to take a point from Garcia for hitting on the break .
Garcia was not given a warning before the realization. The referee should have warned Haney for holding non-stop in the seventh round after he was knocked down by Kingry and badly injured.
Haney plans to return to the ring in December for what many expect will be a confidence booster to mentally regroup after his 12-round decision loss to Garcia.
There has been no mention of who Haney will fight, but it is expected that a weak puncher, possibly someone moved up from the 135 or 140-lb division, will face him at welterweight.
