Abdullah Mason vs. Floyd Scofield Sparring Video is leaked on YouTube today, with “Kid Austin” dominated by the top-promoted mason. Most of the video shows Southpaw lightweight contender, Mason, who chases Schofield around the ring, and beat him on the head and body with big shots.
Schofield missed, held a lot and was out of balance after throwing shots. He sometimes looked uncomfortable and in need with the pressure of the larger 5 ‘9 ″ bricklayer. By the end of the Spar, Schofield landed some great right hand on the head and body of Abdullah.
Leaked sparring video -analysis
The leaked sparring cut refuts which Floyd Schofield Sr. said his son should easily go on Mason. What we see from the cultivated video is that Mason dominated the entire 3.27-minute cut. What we don’t know is who edited the cut and what was removed.
It is quite possible that anyone who did the editing had an agenda to make Abdullah look good. Thus, the parts where he looked good were left intact, while the areas where Schofield was dominant were edited. With an edited video you just don’t know.
Sparring clip age and context
We don’t know how long ago the sparring took place. Schofield looked much bigger on June 28 in his last fight against Tevin Farmer than in the video. In that battle he appears 15 to 20 pounds heavier than he did in the sparring.
This indicates that this cut is at least 1-2 years old. It may not sound to an older fighter, but it makes an important difference to someone in the early 20s who are still developing.
In addition to the age and the selective editing of the video, the glove size and head cover take away any meaning to determine who would win a battle between them. It looks like 16 grams that wear both fighters, and they take away a lot of the impact of the shots.
