Lamine Yamal missed Barcelona’s clash with Real Sociedad

Lamine Yamal will miss Barcelona’s La Liga match with Real Sociedad after being ruled out through injury.

The 17-year-old has quickly become an integral part of Hansi Flick’s squad after an immense 2023/24 campaign with the Catalan side. Yamal has played in all of Barça’s games this season, scoring six goals in 16 games.

But, the young Spaniard will not appear in his side trip to Society after receiving a blow in Wednesday’s Champions League meeting with Red Star Belgrade.

Barça have confirmed that the winger has recovered from the midweek battle but has been unable to regain fitness in time for Sunday’s outing. Fermín López will fill in on the right in Yamal’s absence, giving the 21-year-old the chance to score his first La Liga goal of the season.

Yamal is expected to feature as an international for Spain during the November break after earning a place in Luis de la Fuente’s squad. The European champions will face Denmark and Switzerland in UEFA Nations League matches on November 15 and 18 respectively.

Barça will return to action on November 23 against Celta de Vigo in Galicia after an immense start to the 2024/25 campaign. The Catalans sit on top The League table with 33 points, ahead of their confrontation with the Society.
