Cherundolo will most likely stick to his 3-4-3 system that has taken him this far in the League Cup rather than the typical 4-3-3 setup we’ve become used to seeing. LAFC With Timothy Tillman and Cristian Olivera out with injury, Cherundolo could be looking for a starting lineup similar to the one that secured them a spot in the standings. League Cup semifinals
Here’s how the black and gold could take the field against Colorado.
GK: Hugo Lloris – The veteran shooter starts in goal after making two saves while also picking up an assist in his last outing.
CB: Jesús Murillo – Murillo keeps his place in the backline after a strong performance against the Sounders.
CB: Maxime Chanot – Another start is on the cards for the former NYCFC defender as he anchors the heart of LAFC’s backline.
CB: Aaron Long – The 31-year-old has been in fine form of late and will be looking to continue that trend against the Rapids.
RWB: Sergi Palencia – Although Ryan Hollingshead is more comfortable at right-back, Palencia has excelled at right-back in recent games and should retain his place in the position.
CM: Eduard Atuesta – Atuesta has been solid overall in his second spell with the Black and Gold, as he accompanies Sánchez in the middle of the park.
CM: Ilie Sánchez – The experienced midfielder is the linchpin in the midfield that makes everything work for LAFC.
LWB: Ryan Hollingshead – The former FC Dallas player returns to the starting position at left back, looking to add his third goal in as many games.
RW: Mateusz Bogusz – The versatile Polish international will more than likely feature on the right wing from the start with Olivera out through injury.
ST: Olivier Giroud – Giroud could be set to make his first start for LAFC after a couple of brief cameos off the bench.
LW: Denis Bouanga – The reigning Golden Boot winner has been on fire in recent weeks and will hope to continue that theme against a familiar opponent on Wednesday night.
