Petra Kvitova Returned to the WTA tour, playing its first competitive match in 17 months at Austin’s Austin, Texas.
Kvitova fell to the UK Jodie6-3, 4-6, 4-6 at 2:29.
It was a fierce loss for 34-year-old Czecheke, who had four resting points to lead 5-3 in the last set, but could not be converted. Credit Mence, who fired 14 aces, who claimed the last three games of the match to score her victory.
Britain had good words for Kvitova after the match.

“She’s an absolute champion, I knew I would have to fight here,” Men said in court after victory. “She went down to a very shaky start, but she turned out if she had not left for 17 months. She was hitting everything and coming in, so I knew then who I was against.
“There was no doubt in my mind that she is the same player who was when she was in the tournament 17 months ago. Very happy with the way I composed myself, I went back to that match and fought to the end.”
Kvitova will go next to Indian Wells, where she has accepted a wild card. Kvitova, who turns 35 on March 8, plans to play Miami, before sitting with her husband to make plans for the Argila season.
Wimbledon’s double champion, who gave birth to Petri’s little boy on July 7, is currently tireless.
