Krekikova survived the eight points of the match against her in the second set before finding a long Townsend 1-6, 7-6, 6-3 way to reach the US Open quarterfinal.
Both players, unseeded in this year's women's singles draw, entered their fourth round match in New York with compelling storylines. Townsend, 29, currently the WTA's World No. 1 doubles player, hoped to reach her first ever major singles quarterfinal after defeating two seeded players in a row in No. 5 seed Mirra Andreeva and No. 25 seed Jelena Ostapenko.Krekikova, a twice -big champion of bachelors involving last year’s Wimbledon title, entered New York, not playing many matches this season due to a constant back injury. At the beginning of this season, she was not even sure she would compete. Now she has returned to another big quarter -finals of bachelors.
“Just four months ago, I couldn’t play or practice. I had a great pain in my back and I didn’t know if I would ever come back,” Pajcika later said. “That’s big. I still can’t believe it.”
For much of the match, it seemed that Townsend would finally gain its first major progress for bachelors in the last eight bachelors.
The first set was about Townsend who felt the ball better than its opponent throughout the set. With stellar game, Townsend completed the 6-1 set in just 28 minutes.
Townsend, continuing its momentum, opened a 3-1 lead in the second set for the pleasure of the crowd at home. However, Townsend, perhaps, feeling the pressure of the finish line is the sight, thrown into a double fault below the resting point to deliver the break for 2-3.
The match from there took place a meeting back and forth with Krycikova pressure time and time again to save the match points.
The first against her came when she served by following 4-5 in the second set. She saved that match point with a powerful service and then the winner of the vanguard.
Krekikova was finally kept in that game and later both women were found in a tiebreak.
From there, the match bubbleed at the back and forth meeting that many had expected of these specialists of all judges. Townsend traced to Tiebreaker 1-3 and then finally led 6-3. But Townsend could not be transformed into its next range of match points.
Very soon, Krycikova would withdraw again in the 6th. Townsend held another point of match after its opponent made a premature mistake. Krekikova responded to the fifth point of the match against her with a line winner. Krekikova then won three certain points, which she left to slide with bad mistakes.

From there, Krekikova would deny Townsend three more points-while she hit a perfect winner of SMASH to get the 7-6 (13) set.
The last set, despite the promotion of the crowd, proved that it was in favor of Krekikova. Star Czechek opened a 4-2 late lead in the last set. As Townsend managed to retire inside a game, Krekikova’s experience was very shown to be very pronounced.
Krekikova, at her second point of the match, finally closed the exciting battle with a volleyball winner.
With the victory, Krycikova saved the most points of the match in the US Open of the year.
Townsend, despite the loss, looked forward to the positive after her exciting run at her Grand Slam house.
“I’m exactly where I have to be,” she said. “I said it in DC, you know. I was a kind of inch there. I’m exactly where I should be. That’s it. I’m playing the tennis I have to play within 20 balls, 10 ball to win a Grand Slam. It is twice Grand Slam. I have beat a big champion of this tour. yourself in this.
“It hurts, but it’s part of the competition, it’s part of the sport, but I’m right where I have to be.”
Krekikova, then, said she enjoyed the experience despite the crowd was for her opponent.
“To be honest, it was great. I mean, I really liked the crowd,” she said. “Although they were cheering for Taylor, whom I knew from the beginning. That’s the way it is. I really like it.
“Perfectly perfect. I enjoyed it. I am really happy that I was able to play in Louis Armstrong Court, and I was able to play American, and the crowd was wild.”
Next for Krekikova is the fourth American and last year’s Open Open finalist Jessica Pegula.
