The Arizona Diamondbacks were coming off an amazing 2023 World Series season as they entered the 2024 season.
The Diamondbacks then missed the postseason, finishing 89-73.
They entered this offseason aiming to return to the playoffs, and they traded with the Cleveland Guardians to acquire first baseman Josh Naylor.
While this is the only significant move they’ve made so far, according to MLB Trade Rumors , the Diamondbacks are interested in pursuing relief pitcher Kirby Yates.

Yates is a 37-year-old veteran who has played 10 MLB seasons.
After making his debut with the Tampa Bay Rays, Yates played for six teams during his career.
With the Texas Rangers in 2024, Yates appeared in 61 games and posted a 7-2 record with a 1.17 ERA, 33 saves and 85 strikeouts in 61.2 innings.
It was his career-lowest streak and second-highest saves.
It proved he still has the stuff to be effective, and the Diamondbacks could benefit from his talents.
Although the Diamondbacks made the World Series just two seasons ago, it was their only playoff appearance since 2017.
Yates will be a name to remember as Arizona builds its roster for the 2025 season.
