Keyshawn Davis came across the 135 pounds at 139.3 pounds at 135 pounds on Friday’s weigh-in, which led his WBO lightweight title to be stripped of his fight against Edwin de Los Santos on Saturday, June 7. De Los Santos has raised at 134.7 pounds of weight, and he will be eligible to win the narrow vacant WBO title.
Davis misses weight, title away
KeyShawn (13-0, 9 COs) did not want to try to pick up the remaining 4.3 pounds and said he had already made an effort to come to 135 last night and this morning. He couldn’t do it. Davis says he “Outgrew” The lightweight section and will move to the light welter weight next. He says he had already planned to vacate his WBO title anyway, and that would be his last fight at 135.
Keyshawn Davis came in 139 pounds – four pounds over the limit – and did not try to reduce the excess weight. As a result, he was officially stripped of his title on the scale. De Los Santos weighed 134.7 pounds on his part.
As such, if De Los Santos does not win against Davis this Saturday, the vacant WBO lightweight title is likely to be overwhelmed by Abdullah Mason and #1 Sam Noakes. It was if Mason wins his fellow match against Jeremiah Nakathila in the Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia.

For a fighter who missed weight with a broad margin, Keyshawn didn’t drain or look tired. It is a red flag he did not put in the job of picking up the weight, knowing it was his last fight at 135. We saw the same thing about his ‘brother’, Shakur Stevenson, who missed weight in his final fight at Super Featherweight. If you know that this is your last fight in a section, fighters do not make the same effort to gain weight.
