Keyshawn Davis took to social media bitterly, responding to the praise light welterweight prospect Emiliano Vargas received for his impressive performance, knocking out Larry Fryers (13-7-1, 5 KOs) in the fifth round on Friday night. Keyshawn was so angry that he was literally shaking with rage when he talked about Emiliano. What I want to know is why Keyshawn doesn’t have the same energy for Andy Cruz that he does for Emiliano. He lost to Cuban Cruz four times in the amateurs and looked wild-eyed and insane after losing to him in the finals of the 2020 Olympics.
ESPN commentators have been relentlessly glazing Emiliano Vargas (12-0, 10 KOs), talking about how good he looked in his win over Fryers. Emiliano’s compliments from ESPN far exceeded anything Keyshawn received in any of his fights.
They had good reason: Emiliano looked like future star material, showing power, speed and accuracy in his win tonight. His entertainment value, along with his Hollywood looks, make him a superstar who can’t be missed in the top rankings.
ESPN’s talking heads, Bernard Osuna, Tim Bradley and Mark Kriegel, know talent when they see it. As Keyshawn had the talent that Emiliano showed, ESPN would excel him too, but he doesn’t.
He is more of a WWE wrestler than a boxer. Top Rank needs to think of an exit strategy with Keyshawn because he’s not going anywhere, and they made the mistake of signing him.
“I’ll beat all of them (backs) on the same night, including the dad,” Keyshawn Davis said. social mediareacts to Emiliano Vargas’ impressive win over Larry Fryers on Saturday night.
“Tell them to set it up. I will go from the father (Fernando Vargas) to the youngest brother (Emiliano) the same night. The Vargas Brothers vs. The Davis Brothers. I don’t care which brother I fight with, and the father gets it too.
“Tell Top Rank to set it up. I don’t even play. I watched your eyes and I heard you talk (good) when you had your media training session. I was about to dress you guys. You’re lucky you left before I pulled you up. I didn’t even have a clue.
“You will be happy. You didn’t even know. Speak (good). I had ears though. (A friend) called and said, ‘Keyshawn, the Vargas brothers are talking (good) about you. Tell them to set it up, but tell them they can be under my head though.
“They talk as if they are so popular. You are a very different culture. Do you think you know my culture, brother? What the hell is he talking about? Speaking of I’m not an Olympian. Do you think you know my culture, brother? Nobody knows you in my culture. What are you talking about? You are crazy. There is no comparison between the Davis brothers and the Vargas brothers,” Keyshawn said.
