Keyshawn Davis weighed in at 134.2 pounds, while his opponent, light welterweight Gustavo Lemos, was overweight at Thursday’s weigh-in at 141.4 pounds for their 10-round main event on Friday night, Nov. 8, at the Scope Arena in Norfolk, Va. .

Keyshawn respects Lemos
During the face-off, Keyshawn, 25, disrespected Lemos by placing his fist on his chin in a low-life move by the 2020 Olympic silver medalist. Lemos looked embarrassed be humiliated by Davis and only allowed him to do so without bumping or hitting him.
Many fighters would have done this if they were in a similar situation and shown no respect. It’s unclear why Lemos didn’t check on Keyshawn about his rude behavior. Maybe Lemos is still due to the Top Rank promoted fighter for handpicking him, and he gets paid well to be his B-side opponent.
In a way, Keyshawn’s choice of Lemos makes him his boss, because without him doing the Argentine a favor, he wouldn’t get this nice payday. It was still upsetting to see Lemos being treated so poorly and for no reason. He was polite to Keyshawn during the build up and didn’t deserve this treatment.
It’s no surprise that Lemos (29-1, 19 KOs) came in 6.4 pounds over the 135-lb limit, as he has campaigned at light welterweight (140-lbs) since December 18, 2020. conducted section.
The 28-year-old should never have been selected by Top Rank to face Keyshawn (11-0, 7 KOs) unless the bout was to take place in the light welterweight division.
Keyshawn could have picked Andy Cruz
If Top Rank wanted to get someone who would make weight, they should have picked Cubans Andy Cruz because he fights at lightweight, is highly rated and has a sparkling 4-0 record against him from their days in the amateurs.
Cruz brought Keyshawn up every time he fought him and made him act crazy after his win in the 2020 Olympic finals. The Cuban talent calls Keyshawn “my son” because he had beaten him so many times.
Lemos was born in Tres Arroyos, Argentina. He has a career KO percentage of 65.52. He is coming off a controversial 12-round unanimous decision against Richardson Hitchins in a light welterweight bout on April 6 at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas. The scores for the fight were 117-111, 115-113 and 115-113. Fans on social media overwhelmingly believed that Lemos won that fight.
Friday’s Keyshawn vs. Lemos event will be shown live on ESPN+ at 6:20 PM ET/3:20 PM PT.

Keysahwn has two of his brothers fighting on the undercard of Friday’s event on ESPN+. They’re basically prospects and don’t look like they’re headed for world title honors. The real talent on the undercard is lightweight prospect Abdullah Mason (15-0, 13 KOs), who is the best fighter on the card, period. He should be in the co-feature spot instead of light middleweight Trou Isley.

“I weighed 140 two days ago. So, my weight is still there. First of all, this is my homecoming fight,” Keyshawn Davis said Cigar talk when asked why he chose the tough Gustavo Lemos as his opponent. “A lot of people didn’t want to fight me in my hometown.
“Knowing that Lemos is from Argentina and from a completely different country, and doesn’t care. It’s going to be off his grid regardless. He comes from Argentina to America. It doesn’t matter that it’s a homecoming fight. For Lemos, he is coming off a controversial loss (to Richardson Hitchins).
“Coming off a controversial loss that he feels like he won, he still has a big opportunity ahead of him. It’s going to be like his redemption. So, he’s going to be twice as good as he was last time, and that’s someone I need in front of me to bring out the best in me.
“It’s going to be a great fight because of that, and the fans are going to be the winners at the end of the night as long as The Businessman (wins),'” Keyshawn said.
