In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Pietersen highlighted that Shaw’s off-field behaviour, particularly his engagement with social media, could be detrimental to his on-field performance. He said that if there were supportive people around Shaw, they would give him advice “Get off social media and definitely exercise your backside” to regain his fitness and focus on cricket.
The former cricketer noted that comeback stories are often the most compelling in sports. “Some of the greatest sports stories are COMEBACK stories. This will put him back on track where his past successes can return. Too talented to throw it all away. Love, KP!” Pietersen tweeted.
