The second night of TGL started with electricity when Tiger Woods made a smoke-assisted entrance to Eye of the Tiger, but the simulator league had some trouble as Los Angeles Golf Club destroyed Woods’ Jupiter Links 12-1.
While Woods headlined the night, his teammates — Kevin Kisner and Max Homa — stole the show. Homa, unsurprisingly, was the funniest of the six golfers, as his self-deprecation of himself and the team led to some funny moments on the mic.
Homa’s commentary was the best part of TGL’s second game until Kisner hit a bunker shot that nearly snapped the flagstick in half, leaving Woods doubled over laughing.
Yes, tour pros are just like us. Well, sometimes.
Kisner then went on to almost sink the next putt 57 feet to save par.
“I’m still hurt that I’m laughing so hard,” Woods said on air in the aftermath of Kisner’s skull. “I didn’t think anyone could get hurt here. Gati cleared the stands. He was getting up, oh my God.”
Homa, who was behind Kisner batting in Jupiter’s lineup on Tuesday, steamrolled Kisner before hitting his final shot of the evening.
As mentioned above, Homa was the bright spot for TGL on its second night.
With Jupiter crumbling and Kisner spending most of his time destroying the ball in hazards, Homa spent his night showing why he’s a perfect fit for a league that will rely on players showing their personality .
Kisner also had his moments on the mic, including trying to go to the bullpen in relief of Tiger’s son Charlie Woods.
The second night of TGL had its flaws. This is normal for any start-up.
But Kisner’s bunker skull and Homa’s commentary show what the product can become: entertainment and frivolous golf fun.
This is the plan for TGL.
