Kenneth Sims pushes for Rematch: Believe he beat Oscar Duarte

Kenneth Sims (22-3-1, 8 costs) insists that he has done enough to win the win in his 10-round majority decision loss to Oscar Duarte (30-2-1, 23 COs) in their WBA Light Welterweight Eliminator at the University of Illinois in Chicago.

The judges had it nearby and scored it 115-113, 114-114 and 116-112 for Duarte.

Sims’s game plan errors

Where Sims blew his chance of winning was to choose to brawl on the inside with Duarte, and fight with his back against the ropes in many of the rounds. Sims dominated Oscar when he fought in the middle of the ring, with his stitch and long reaches to land shots.

The movement by Sims was impressive. It was like getting to a Mayweather Copy. However, he wandered away from his game plan and chose to trade on the inside with Duarte. This tactic worked against Sims as he fought the game of Duarte and got the worst of it. He did not keep his own when he fought his back against the ropes against the Mexican.

Sims, 31, says he wants an immediate re -broadcast because he felt he had done more than enough to get the win. Duarte’s promoters at Golden Boy Promotions are unlikely to accommodate the request of Sims, as it was a world title eliminator to get a shot at WBA WBA Champion Gary Antuanne Russell. This is the struggle that Duarte wants next.

Kenneth’s response to the battle

“I thought I won. I got him boxed. He caught me with a few, but every time he caught me, I came back. I want to run it back, ‘Kenneth Sims said Chris Mannix After his loss of Oscar Duarte last Saturday night. “That’s it. I thought I had won the battle. ‘

It would be surprising if Golden Boy agreed to allow Sims to fight duarts again, because it serves them no purpose. Sims is likely to make the necessary adjustments to defeat Duarte in a second fight, and he will miss his world title Chance.

“It wasn’t really adjustments. It was the game plan to box,” Sims said. “So, I boxed. I stood my ground a little because I knew I had to, or he was going to come harder. So, I stood my ground when I needed. I thought I had won the battle. ‘

Sims looked like he wanted to prove to the fans that he could beat Duarte on his own game by fighting him on the inside. Indeed, sometimes Sims got him better, especially if Duarte would be tired or would take too long to get into the perfect position to throw one of his shots. Kenneth’s problem is that he didn’t have enough in the moments when he was close.

Duarte’s punch power

“He didn’t hit as hard as I thought he was doing. He was more as relentless than he had, but as I said, I want to run it back. I need it. I am competitive. I needed it. I need it. I need it. I won’t be able to sleep right until I got it back because I felt like I won the battle, ‘says Sims.

Duarte is not a big puncher, but he overwhelms his opponents with his pressure and body sponge. He hits hard enough to bump his opposition to submission. You can see from Sims’s badly swollen face after the fight that Duarte’s power was still formidable.
