Kenneth Sims (22-3-1, 8 costs) insists that he has done enough to win the win in his 10-round majority decision loss to Oscar Duarte (30-2-1, 23 COs) in their WBA Light Welterweight Eliminator at the University of Illinois in Chicago.

The judges had it nearby and scored it 115-113, 114-114 and 116-112 for Duarte.
Sims’s game plan errors
Where Sims blew his chance of winning was to choose to brawl on the inside with Duarte, and fight with his back against the ropes in many of the rounds. Sims dominated Oscar when he fought in the middle of the ring, with his stitch and long reaches to land shots.
The movement by Sims was impressive. It was like getting to a Mayweather Copy. However, he wandered away from his game plan and chose to trade on the inside with Duarte. This tactic worked against Sims as he fought the game of Duarte and got the worst of it. He did not keep his own when he fought his back against the ropes against the Mexican.
Sims, 31, says he wants an immediate re -broadcast because he felt he had done more than enough to get the win. Duarte’s promoters at Golden Boy Promotions are unlikely to accommodate the request of Sims, as it was a world title eliminator to get a shot at WBA WBA Champion Gary Antuanne Russell. This is the struggle that Duarte wants next.
Kenneth’s response to the battle

Sims looked like he wanted to prove to the fans that he could beat Duarte on his own game by fighting him on the inside. Duarte’s punch power

Duarte is not a big puncher, but he overwhelms his opponents with his pressure and body sponge. He hits hard enough to bump his opposition to submission. You can see from Sims’s badly swollen face after the fight that Duarte’s power was still formidable.
