KEEGAN BRADLEY WILL BE IN Bethpage Black in September When he captured the United States Ryder Cup teamBut he hopes to do more than wearing a headset in the pharmingdale, NY
Bradley wants to play his way to an American team This still has some questions point six months away from competition. Bradley currently sits in 22nd on Ryder Cup drips the rankingAfter the likes of Ben Griffin, Michael Kim, Tom Hoge and Lucas Glover.
The 38-year-old Bradley has not yet unveiled his suitcase from the loss of the merger of the United States in Europe at the 2012 Ryder Cup in Medinah. This was the last time Bradley made a Ryder Cup team, but he hopes to change it this fall.
Should Bradley find a spark during the summer and win a place, create a dilemma for SH.BA how much the captain would do Bradley? Would he do it at all? And who would fulfill the role if he is focused on the beating of Rory Mcilroy, Ludwig åberg or Shane Lowry?
These discussions are at least thrown around by Bradley and his vice president.
Brandt Singeker, who will be a vice -president captain this fall, offered an overview of how the US can handle such a scenario during his press conference as Captain of the 2026 presidents Cup of 202 Tuesday.
“In connection with Keegan playing, I think everyone in the team wants Keegan to play great and make the team,” Singeker said. “I think this is something the players have talked about quite openly, that they think Keegan is one of the top 12 players in the world now on the American side, and he has to go to try it and play greatly leading to diplomas during the summer.
“With regards to who was would be the capain in that scenario, we have four other guys in the room right now that are perfectly capable of it, and i’m there will be some collaboration Betheween all of us to take over that roles for this tough is going to be. Team.
There has been no US captain at the Ryder Cup since Arnold Palmer in 1963. But the prevailing thought seems to be that it is too much to ask someone to catch the team AND be part of it.
If Bradley makes the squad, the snedeker seems to believe that Bradley will have to give up most of his captain’s tasks to focus on playing the type of golf required beat a talented European side.
“Keegan has spoken about it,” Singeker said. “I don’t think you can make them both. I don’t think it’s possible to be able to do the two, just how many things go to being captain. I think that Keegan will surely bend in Jim (furyk), of course, who will be in that room too. There are a bunch of boys who can grow and hope to fill it invalid.”
Bradley has said he will only be in the team if he is automatically qualified as one of the six best players on the list of US points.
For now, the six main players are: Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffle, Collin Morikawa, Bryson Dechambeau, Russell Henley and Justin Thomas. If Bradley goes to a summer run to throw in the top six places, it seems that the plan will be to have a captain out of the Bethpage Committee.
Whether this will help, hurt or has no impact on the US is unknown now.
But what is clear is that there is a desire for Bradley to make the team, especially after his 2024 presidents’ performance.
“The way he played last year at the President’s Cup really showed that this guy was built for team competitions. He is a great guy in the team’s room. He played fantastic,” Snestyrek said. “A great reason why we were able to withdraw it to Montreal was the way he played. I think the boys wanted to see his (fire). They got to see his competition come. They are seeing his way as captain and the amount of care he has about these things he plays and how he speaks.”
Bradley has two Top-10 and six Top-25s so far this season. The number 19 player in the world has played strong golf, but it is more needed if he will become the first captain to play since Palmer in 1963. If he is successful, the US will find himself in the uncharted territory while trying to recover.
“He has to play excellent golf the rest of the year,” Singeker said. “I know he will. He’s working hard on it. We’ll see how it all shakes.”
