Vincent Bouillard wins men’s race in Chamonix as big names like Jim Walmsley and Tom Evans DNF
Katie Scheid slashed Courtney Dowalter’s women’s course record by 21 minutes at the 2024 Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc. The 32-year-old American clocked 22 hours, 9 minutes and 31 seconds to claim her second victory in the iconic race.
Sheed conquered the 176 km (109.3 mi) route, which includes about 10,000 m (32,500 ft) of elevation gain around the Mont Blanc massif through France, Italy and Switzerland.
New Zealand’s Ruth Croft was runner-up 39 minutes behind, and Canada’s Marianne Hogan was third.
In the men’s race, Vincent Bouillard produced a surprise as he took victory in 19:54:23, ahead of France’s Baptiste Chassan and Ecuador’s Joaquin Lopez.

Bouillard does not have a sponsor, but works full-time in Hoka’s product innovation department in Annecy.
Defending champion Jim Walmsley of the United States was one of the elite men to withdraw as he withdrew from the field after just 50 miles with a knee injury that had troubled him in recent weeks.
Britain’s Tom Evans also pulled out after he was “running on empty” with flare-up problems. He won Western States last year and was third at UTMB in 2022.
