Kambosos Jr. Headline March Australia Card: Hearn Eyes Top 15 clash for former champion

Eddie Hearn says George Kambosos Jr. will be headlining a show in Australia in March. He’s not saying who the former unified lightweight champion will fight, but he says it will be a top 15 contender in his debut at 140.

‘The Emperor’ Kambosos is currently going through a rough patch in his career, losing three of his last four fights, and is considered a textbook example of a one-hit wonder.

George pulled off a Teofimo Lopez miracle in 2021 and made millions from that brief success. However, it’s been downhill for Kambosos since then, losing twice to Devin Haney and getting knocked out by Vasily Lomachenko. He is a flash in the pan.

“Bum” Hitchins in Kambosos’ Sights

Kambosos (21-3, 10 KOs) says he will challenge Richardson Hitchins for his IBF light welterweight title in the summer. Referring to the undefeated New Yorker as a “tramp,” Kambosos is confident that he will defeat him to become a two-division world champion.

Hitchins ruined Hearn’s plans for a major Australian clash by defeating IBF140lb champion Liam Paro by a 12-round unanimous decision on December 7 last month. Hearn hoped to fit Kambosos and Paro into a big Aussie line-up in 2025 as that fight would have sold big for the Australian market.
