Promoter Eddie Hearn says Richardson Hitchins will defend his IBF Light Welterweight title against #3 George Kambosos Jr. On June 21 as George’s cut by that time will be cured. If not, Hitchins (19-0, 7 COs) will face someone else on that date.

Cuts cut
Hearn does not say who the backup plan for Hitchins will be if Kambosos’s cut is not healed. He sustained the cut against Jake Wyllie and hit hard by the young gun, which was much harder than expected. His youth, power and natural light welterweight size made life difficult for Kambosos. George was not built for the 140 -pound division, and we saw it against Wyllie.
Emperor’s test
Kambosos, 31, debuted at 140 last Saturday night and defeated substitute opponent Wyllie (16-2, 15 COs) with a unanimous 12-round decision in Sydney, Australia. The ‘Emperor’ Kambosos struggled throughout the competition against the 24-year-old, Unranked Wyllie, and won by the scores 117-111, 115-113 and 117-111.
It is unclear why the IBF gave Kambosos a #3 rankings After just one fight at 140 against the second level fighter, Wyllie. It doesn’t make much sense. Kambosos pushed above these talented fighters in the IBF’s top -15 ranking on light welter weight:
– Liam Paro
– Kenneth Sims
– Kailaine Ortiz
– Jose Ramirez
– Elvis Rodriguez
– Subriel Matias
– Isaac Cruz
I can’t see Kambosos beating one of the contenders. Those guys will be far too good for a limited man like the ‘Emperor’, who is largely seen by fans as a one-hit.
The date
“The date is going to be June 21. This is the date we target. There is no movement on that date. Who Richardson Hitchins is fighting on that date, George Kambosos or someone else said,” Promoter Eddie Hearn said Ring magazine YouTube channel, talks about the possibility that George Kambosos jr. #3 is ranked, which challenges Richardson Hitchins for his IBF title of 140 pounds in the summer on June 21.
“I don’t think the cut is that bad. It’s 13 weeks later tonight. So it will take four or five weeks for the cut to heal, but he will be fit, and he can start sparching again. He must make that date, and I believe he can. It is a great battle (Hitchins against Kambosos) George is all action and has captured all the ties to 135 (135 (135 (135 (135*Comment: Kambosos briefly held the IBF, WBA and WBO lightweight titles, but not the WBC. As such, he did not capture “all the belts”.). The build -up will be epic, and I believe it will be a big fight, ‘says Hearn.
