Jurgen Klopp has been announced as Red Bull’s new head of world football, from January 1, 2025, in his first major job since leaving. Liverpool at the end of last season.
The German ended a nine-year spell at Anfield at the end of 2023/24, having led the club to the Champions League and Premier League titles along with other trophies.
Despite being linked with many positions after leaving the Reds, including the EnglandGermany and the United States from international management positions, Klopp insisted he wanted time away from training after his long stint on Merseyside.
His new position at Red Bull has already been confirmed and the 57-year-old will be the chairman of the company’s club network which includes RB Leipzig, Salzburg and New York Red Bulls.
Klopp said: “After nearly 25 years on the sidelines, I couldn’t be more excited to be involved in a project like this. The role may have changed, but my passion for football and the people who make the game what it is is not
“By joining Red Bull on a global level, I want to develop, improve and support the incredible football talent we have at our disposal. There are many ways to do this from using knowledge and elite experience that Red Bull has to learn from other sports and other industries.
“Together we can discover what’s possible. I see my role primarily as a mentor to the coaches and management of the Red Bull clubs, but ultimately I’m part of a unique, innovative and forward-looking organization. As I said, I couldn’t be more excited about that.”
Klopp will start his new role in January and is also reported to have a clause in his contract that will allow him to leave in Germany the national team job as a possible successor to Julian Nagelsmann in the future.
