Jurgen Klopp has released a statement explaining his controversial decision to take on a new role as Red Bull’s global head of football.
The German ended a trophy-laden nine-year spell with Premier League giants Liverpool at the start of the summer, announcing he intended to take a sabbatical after “running out of energy”.
After only four months out of football, however, Shockingly, Klopp was announced as Red Bull’s new global head of footballoverseeing strategy at RB Leipzig, New York Red Bulls, Red Bull Bragantino, Red Bull Brasil and Red Bull Salzburg.
The news, as expected, has not gone down particularly well, with Borussia Dortmund fans are very upset for Klopp’s decision to join the Red Bull organization.
talking InstagramKlopp has explained his decision to take on the role.
“Some of you may have heard, some of you may not, from 1 January 2025 I will be the Head of Global Soccer at Red Bull,” he said.
“I’m really looking forward to it. A few months ago I said I don’t see myself on the sidelines anymore and it’s still like that. But I still love football and work and Red Bull offers me the perfect platform for that.
“I want to share my experience that I gathered over the years and we all know that there are more successful managers out there.
“In my career I have fought for promotion, against relegation and for titles and trophies. Sometimes we have failed and sometimes we have succeeded and it is not easy to deal with it.
“I want to learn again because when you are at work and you have to play every three days, you barely have time for it. And now I have time and I have the opportunity. And I want to see and discover what is useful for football – also develop a little football
“I’m really looking forward to it but now I’m back on holiday. See you in January.”
