Barcelona star Jules Kounde has made a name for himself not only as a talented right-back, but also as one of most fashionable players to never grace the game.
Whether it’s turning up at the French national team camp armed with a Louis Vuitton canvas or starring in a bold fashion campaign covered only in cream: Kounde is not afraid to express his love for style.
But, he hasn’t always been a natural fashionista. In the last episode of The Bridgethe Barça star opened up about his origins in fashion, opening up about how online critics impact him.
When asked if he knew he was the ‘man of the moment’ in fashion, Kounde said: “I’m aware of it, I know now people can’t wait to see what I’m going to appear in, what style, whether it’s eccentric or no, but actually, the way I dress is me, it’s part of my personality.
“I like it. But before I didn’t like it at all, four or five years ago I didn’t like being photographed at all, my mother can vouch for that. When he asked me for a picture I always said no, that’s not for me like
“Then little by little I guess I loosened up a bit too, you get to know yourself better and know what you like, what you don’t like.”
Kounde, despite appearing publicly unconcerned about any backlash she has received for her daring outfit choices, has revealed how comments and criticism online impact her.
“It doesn’t affect us the way they think,” he continued. “To me it’s just a lack of open-mindedness. It’s good to respond once in a while to express your point of view. I think there are ways to do that and often in the media it’s done disrespectfully.”
Kounde and his France teammates again made headlines when they came November international break dressed in their most elegant attire. France beat Italy 3-1 on Sunday to top their UEFA Nations League group.
Barcelona will return to action on Saturday when they travel to face Celta Vigo The League.
