The New York Mets entered the offseason coming off a postseason run that saw them ultimately lose to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series.
Now that the giants know they can win in October, they can taste the world title in 2025.
To show how much owner Steve Cohen wants a title, he went out and signed top free agent Juan Soto to a 15-year, $765 million contract.
Soto stayed in town, but went to the Mets from the New York Yankees.
When asked if New York is now a Big City, Soto made his thoughts clear.
“It’s a Big City. I think we’ve just got to make it to the top. It’s going to show you whether it’s the Yankees or the Big City at the end of the day,” Soto said, via MLB.

After saying it has been a Big City for a long time, but following up by saying championships are the deciding factor, the statement can be questioned.
The Yankees have the most championships of any MLB team with 27, while the Mets have two.
Soto is already a World Series champion with the Washington Nationals and seems to believe there is more to come with the Mets.
The annual Subway Series will likely involve more drama than in years past since Soto’s decision.
