The New York Yankees’ 2024 season ended with a World Series loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers, and now they’ve lost one of their best players in free agency to the New York Mets.
Superstar shortstop Juan Soto signed a 15-year, $765 million contract with the Mets, which he took up on an offer from the Yankees.
The Yankees now have to get used to life after Soto, but signing him left the team with plenty of money to spend on the other free agent talent still available.
Soto was seen at a news conference in his new Mets uniform, and he had a message for Yankees fans after one season with the team.
“I want to say thank you. I really want to thank them. They really showed me all the love and everything they have last year,” Soto said on MLB “X.”

Soto entered the league in 2018 with the Washington Nationals and will now be playing for his fourth team at just 26 years old.
While Soto thanked Yankees fans and expressed his appreciation for them throughout the 2024 season, it’s likely Yankees fans aren’t happy with him.
With the Subway Series scheduled for six games in 2025, Yankees fans will have a chance to express their feelings to Soto.
Although the Yankees lost Soto, they still have a talented lineup and will try to win the American League East for the second year in a row and the first since 2011 and 2012.
