Joshua vs. Fury: ‘Battle Of Britain’ still a priority for AJ

Anthony Joshua says his focus is on getting a fight against Tyson Fury in 2025. Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) wants to make the mega fight against the recently beaten former WBC heavyweight champion Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) soon.

draw back anger

Fury, 36, has been lying low since defeating unified champion Oleksandr Usyk in Riyadh on December 21, and he is no doubt wondering what went wrong this time for him to be beaten for the second time. He looked like he had no more.

His performance, or lack thereof, showed why it is important to get the ‘Battle of Britain’ fight against Joshua as soon as possible. Some believe that Fury could announce his retirement, and they are on ‘R’ watchand waiting for a tearful speech from him.

Joshua needs to increase the pressure on Fury to cheer him up and motivate him to stay on because he can do something impulsive. He retired once, only to come back.

“2025, I target Tyson Fury,” said Anthony Joshua Sky Sports News.

He needs some cheering from Joshua and others right now to make him think he did better than he actually did.

AJ has more reasons to retire than Fury as he was blown apart by IBF Heavyweight Champion Daniel Dubois in his fifth round knockout loss on September 21st in front of over 90,000+ fans at Wembley Stadium in London. It was a total mismatch, with Joshua being dropped four times.

Joshua had never been so knocked out before. You could see that Dubois was too strong, young and talent-wise out of his league. However, it would be the same if Dubois fought Fury. He might be even easier because his strike resistance is gone, and he won’t have anything to stop Dubois for a moment.

“Makes me hungry, makes me want to work harder. Time is of the essence; time is limited, so I just want to put in more work,” Joshua said of his loss to Daniel Dubois on September 21.

“Looking back, I believe I could have done more in 2024. I have another chance in 2025 to do more, and I’m going to make sure I take every opportunity that comes my way. I should have won, but I didn’t, and I’m going to go again,” Joshua said.

Joshua needs to permanently forget about Dubois and focus entirely on fighting Fury twice before calling it a day. Going back in with Daniel would be a bad idea.
