Padley-Cvetanovic struggles on the Dalton Smith against Mathieu Germain under map for this event. Given the lower placement, it is not expected to be a competitive battle. Of course, with Padley’s lack of power, you cannot exclude a narrow fighting battle from start to finish. You can expect Cvetanovic Padley’s body to target, because that is where he was vulnerable in his last fight.
Matchroom -Debut
This is the first of a multi-match contract Padley (15-1, 4 COs) who recently signed with Eddie Hearn’s match room box after his game effort, and lost WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson through a ninth round on February 22 in Riyadyh, Saudi Arabia.
Padley was recruited by Hearn as the substitute opponent for Shakur after the initially scheduled man, Floyd Schofield, was pulled out. Hearn took some criticism from fans for selecting the light, part-time boxer Padley over the unbeaten #10 WBC rankings Herrera Cores (17-0, 15), which would have made a much more interesting battle for Shakur.
Some fans thought Hearn protected Stevenson to stop him from beating out and saving a possible big money fight against the superstar of the lightweight division, Gervonta Davis.
Four-year-old Pro Marko Cvetanovic (13-0, 6 COs) has a significant name on his resume, Journeyman Viorel Simion, who fought many well-known fighters during his career. Cvetanovic stopped the 43-year-old Simion in the third round due to an injury last year on June 28. Besides him, Cvetanovic fought largely veterans and prospects during his short career. He started as a kick box in 2018, but abandoned it after one successful struggle to focus on boxing.
Lightweight boundaries
Padley’s lack of strength makes it difficult for him to be linked to any of the big punches or the smooth fighters in the lightweight section. You can’t match the people like Abdullah Mason, Raymond Muratalla or Edwin de Los Santos and expect him to come to the fourth round. Hearn can select target fighters such as Denys Berinchyk, Maxi Hughes or Joe Cordina as Options for Padley. It would be a bad idea to put him into 22-year-old Jadier Herrera.
