Doohan retired due to injury during the 1999 500cc season, after winning the 500cc title in 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997 and 1998, Biaggi retired from MotoGP racing in late 2005, but did not retire after moving to the World1B0 Championship from 2015 to 20207.
Biagi won two WSBK titles in 2010 and 2012 and won four consecutive 250cc titles from 1994 to 1997. The Italian finished second to Doohan in the 1998 500cc season by 52 points, losing to Valentino Rossi by 1061 points and in 2002 by 2001.
Biaggi was one of Rossi’s greatest rivals.They became bitter enemies before sharing the 500cc grid. Lorenzo would become one of Rossi’s biggest rivals during their time with Yamaha, and would go on to win the title by beating the Italian by 150, 187 and five points.
