Eight years of hard work came down last Saturday night for junior middleweight contender Charles Conwell (21-1, 16 COs), losing against Jorge Garcia (33-4, 26 COs) by a 12-round decision in the forecast in Oceanside, California. The triple left brackets to the body throwing Jorge Perez all night was the most important.

Conwell went into battle and had the reputation of being the Boogeyman in the 154 pound division, a fighter who did not face the top contenders because of his strength and toughness.
Last night, Conwell, 27, met his match against Perez, who looked like a smaller version of the Lanky Sebastian Fundora. Perez buried Conwell with his work figure and returned in fast combinations when he was hit.
Conwell’s mistakes
– work out
– She work suffocated
– rabbit pons
– Failing to adjust
Conwell’s restrictions
Conwell failed to make any adjustments to devise another strategy for dealing with Perez’s high work rate and combination punch. His corner asked him to box Jorge, 28, but he didn’t listen to them. Every round he would start on the outside and then take the battle inward. Conwell seemed to try to pull out the rounds because he did not own the arsenal to match the number of blows perez threw.
Conwell’s game is based on throwing lump powers to pull off his opponents. The style worked for him during his career against the lesser opposition to which his promoters matched each other. Last night, Conwell found himself against a man who was wrong for his single match.
Conwell arranged in the fight at 154. He will still be arranged in the top 15, but he will be far away from a world title. None of the champions are going to choose him as a voluntary defense because he hits too hard, and he is not a marketable fighter. So, he will have to work back and try to become compulsory for one of the belt containers. It can take years unless he is very busy.
Garcia’s arrival
‘Hard work and dedication. We are ready for what comes next. We want the big opponents, ‘Jorge Garcia said Sean Zittel After his upset 12-round split decision on Charles Conwell last Saturday night in Oceanside, California. “Halfway,” Perez said when asked when he felt he was taking the fight.
“Many bumps. When he throws one, I throw two, four, five. Whoever. Whether it’s fundora or any of the other world champions, ‘says Perez about whom he wants to fight among the champions at 154.
