Johnny Fisher will now record his second consecutive show.
Matchroom Boxing has confirmed the reshuffled lineup for its September 28 DAZN card. The event will also change locations as Fisher will face Andrii Rudenko in a heavyweight bout at Copper Box Arena in London’s Hackney Wick region.
A new headliner was sought after Dalton Smith (16-0, 12 KOs) pulled out of his bout against Jon Fernandez (26-3, 22 KOs) due to injury. The show was set to take place at Utilita Arena in Smith’s hometown of Sheffield, England. The location was also ideal for Denaby Main’s Terri Harper (14-2-2, 6 KOs), who challenges WBO 135-pound titlist Rhiannon Dixon (10-0, 1 KO).
At least Dixon-Harper is keeping his fight date after being rescheduled twice.
However, it is now Fisher that serves as the local draw. The rising heavyweight from nearby Romford helped dub the arena “Copper BOSH” after his last appearance. Fisher (12-0, 11 KOs) tore through Alen Babic in just 36 seconds in his first career headshot. He picked up his seventh straight shutout in the process.
“The Copper BOSH Arena is going to jump again on September 28,” Fisher said. “We can always count on The Bull Army to take over East London as I take the next step in my career. Andriy Rudenko will be my toughest test. Proven to be an elite level fighter, he will test my mettle. I’m ready.”
The upcoming showdown against Rudenko (36-7, 22 KOs) will be the third of the year for the 25-year-old bruiser.
Ukraine’s Rudenko has lost two of his last four starts, both inside six rounds. He was stopped in the fifth round by the then undefeated Jared Anderson last August 26 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He returned home to Ukraine for a confidence-boosting win last October 28 in Lviv.
The balance of the undercard remains intact. Liverpool’s Peter McGrail (9-0. 5 KOs) takes on Brad Foster (15-3-2, 5 KOs) in a scheduled ten-round junior featherweight bout.
