John Fury confronts Carl Froch before Fury Comeback Presser

The 60-year-old father of the former heavyweight champion shouted challenges and accusations at Froch during media activity ahead of Thursday’s press conference promoting Tyson Fury’s April 11 fight against Arslanbek Makhmudov at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. His voice could be heard across the media area as he asked Froch to face him directly.

“Put some respect in the name of John Fury,” he shouted. “Get Carl Froch here. If he wants it, I’m here. I fear no one. Only God Almighty.”

The outburst continued as John Fury accused Froch of insulting him in public and avoiding confrontation.

“They’ve been making videos about John Fury for two years,” he said afterwards. “You make videos, come fight now.”

Froch, who was present as part of the broadcast team, showed no interest in escalating the situation. He admitted to mentioning his name but focused on his role covering the event.

“He’s already started on me a little bit,” Froch said. “He called my name, ‘Carl Froch, if you want it, let’s get it.’ I don’t know what he wants me to have. Let’s just do what we have to do and be professional.”

His response left John Fury’s challenge unanswered and brought the exchange to a quiet end without further escalation.

The confrontation came as Tyson Fury prepared to return to the ring after more than a year away. He previously announced his retirement after back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk, but later confirmed his intention to fight again.

“I was born and bred to fight,” Tyson Fury said when explaining his decision to return.

Makhmudov represents a physically dangerous opponent, known for early knockouts and forward pressure, making Fury’s return an immediate test after his recent losses exposed technical limitations against disciplined heavyweights.

John Fury’s outburst added another distraction ahead of the event, but the only result that will affect Tyson Fury’s standing in the division is what happens once he steps back into the ring.
