England National Cricket Team striker Joe Root has achieved a great feat in the history of Test cricket. The top batsman overtook excellent batsman Sachin Tendulkar to become the leading run-getter in the fourth innings in the longest format of the game.
Joe Root was successful in the recently concluded first Test against the New Zealand National Cricket Team. The two teams faced each other in a spectacular encounter at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch.
Kok went past Sachin Tendulkar after a quick shot in the fourth over of the match. The batsman played an unbeaten innings of 23 runs off 15 balls with the help of 3 fours and 1 six. His knock enabled the England National Cricket Team to chase down the target of nearly 100 runs and take a 1-0 lead in the series.

Root is now the leading run-getter in the fourth innings of Test cricket with 1,630 runs. He topped Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 1625 runs. Alastair Cook and Graeme Smith share third place with 1,611 runs each. West Indian legend Shivnarine Chanderpaul is at the 5th position with 1580 runs.

Joe Root has been in hot form in Test cricket of late. He has amassed truckloads of runs for the England National Cricket Team and recently overtook Alastair Cook to lead the charts for the Three Lions in Tests. He also has the most centuries in the longest formats of the game by an English batsman.
Joe Root didn’t have the kind of game he wanted against NZ as he took a duck in the first innings. But thankfully, it didn’t cost the England National Cricket Team too much as they went on to win the game after heroics with bat and ball throughout the innings.
England won the first Test against New Zealand with 8 wickets in hand
Dominating the bowling, England ended New Zealand’s innings for 348 runs and then produced a stunning effort with the bat. They declared the innings at 499 runs and took a huge lead of over 100 runs in the first innings, putting the opposition under pressure.
In the second innings, New Zealand National Cricket Team got all out for a total of 254 runs and set a target of 104 runs to chase England National Cricket Team. The Ben Stokes-led side reached the target in 12.4 overs with 8 overs to take an early lead in the series. The second Test between the teams begins on Friday.
