Joe Cordina believes that #1 Sam Noakes #2 Abdullah Mason will defeat when they fight for the vacant WBO lightweight title next. The World Boxing Organization ordered Mason (19-0, 17 COs) and Noakes (17-0, 15 COs) to start negotiating to fight for the title they stripped of Keyshawn Davis last week to miss weight.
Cordina’s noakes upset forecast
Mason is seen as a future star at 135 and is expected to easily make work of the inexperienced noakes. For Cordina to be correct with his prediction, Noakes will have to be a much better fighter than fans consider him to be.
Former IBF Super Featherweight Champion Cordnia (17-1, 9 COs) wants to fight Noakes if he gets his hands on the WBO lightweight title. Joe, 33, missed a fight with WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson in October last year when New Jersey native sustained a hand injury, who forced him to pull out.
It would have been Cordina’s chance to rebuild his career after an eighth round TKO defeat against Anthony Cacace last year in May 2024. Cordina will fight against Jaret Gonzalez Quiroz (17-1, 13 COs) in a 10-round on July 5 at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England.
“Now that he is fighting for a world title, I believe he can probably win so comfortably if he gets his tactics right at night,” Joe Cordina said Box news About his belief that Sam Noakes can defeat Abdullah Mason when fighting for the vacant WBO lightweight tape. “Then it will be a massive battle for Britain because it is for a world title.”
Noakes: Mason’s easy opponent
Cordina’s prediction of Noakes who defeats Mason “comfortably” sounds crazy and makes no sense. On paper it is an early knockout victory for Mason within four rounds. At best, Noakes will come to sixth place if Abdullah fights conservatively as he had the veteran Jeremiah Nakathila in his last battle on June 7. Mason stops him in six rounds. He had to take his time with Nakathila because he had the power at the level of someone in the division. Noakes is too limited to keep as long as Nakathila.
“Obviously, in three weeks, I have to do my job in three weeks (against Jaret Gonzalez Quiroz on July 5),” Cordina said. “Yes, it can be a great British battle (against Noakes). He has to do his best and I have to do my best, ‘Cordina said when asked about his interest in facing Noakes for the WBO lightweight title on a 5 V 5 card. ‘
As inactive as Cordina was, it wouldn’t be a shock if Quiroz defeats him next month, because Joe comes from a 14-month-to-date dismissal after his knock-out loss against Cacace. In addition, Cordina is about to turn 34, and he is no longer a spring chicken. The age and the mileage on his kilometer counter of his grueling battles against Cacace, Edward Vazquez and Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov, will have taken too much out of him. These were the last three fights of Cordina.
Cordina’s “clouds” of reality
“It’s fantasy at the moment. They (Noakes and Mason) have not yet come to an agreement that they are still fighting. We don’t know how long before the fight is going to happen. I may have two fights by then, ‘says Cordina.
It sounds like Cordina is living in the clouds, and dreams of a situation that believes, who has no chance to happen. The reality is that Noakes is likely to lose badly against Abdullah Mason in a break, and Cordina will be knocked out by 24-year-old Mexican fighter Quiroz. His career will be in the mud, and there will be nothing he can do to pull himself out of it. Cordina doesn’t see things for what they really are.
