Joe Cordina does not believe that Shakur Stevenson is serious about the fight against Welterweight Conor Benn, following his July 12 title defense against William Zepeda. Cordina says Benn hits hard, big and will be dangerous to Shakur with eight-oz gloves.
Eddie Hearn said Benn and Shakur contacted him to make the fight happen. Hearn says he will do this after their next battles. Conor is expected to re -broadcast in September with Chris Eubank Jr. Then he is free to fight Shakur (23-0, 11 COs).
Shakur is chasing millions?

Shakur may be serious about the fight against Conor Benn, because he wants to get a taste of the big money he missed during his career. If his dream is to live in between the millionaires Ho-Ho-Coast, Saddle River, or Rumson, New Jersey, fighting against Conor, would be the fight to take.

Angry is waiting for Shakur?

This is the only option Stevenson has to win because he is too weak and fragile to stay in the bag and fight. His last fight against British fighter, Josh Padley, may have given him ideas that he could stand out his land and battle last February.
It was a special matter. Padley couldn’t hit, and it was ideal for Shakur to fight in the bag. He can’t do it against Zepeda without getting machine gunned. Stevenson is not more difficult than Zepeda’s previous knockout victims, Giovanni Cabrera, Maxi Hughes and Marcito Gesta. If those guys couldn’t handle Zepeda’s onslaught, Shakur won’t either. Therefore, he will have to run, and it means very evil. This battle is in New York, so they are not going to be polite if Stevenson starts running to escape the pressure of Zepeda.
