The Brit retires from athletics after securing a string of medals at both junior and senior levels.
Jodie Williams, who represented Great Britain at three Olympics and was part of the 4x400m team that won bronze at Paris 2024, has retired.
The 31-year-old announced she would be hanging up her jumpers in a message on Instagram, which read: “You (jogging) allowed me to achieve my childhood dreams and turned me from an insecure awkward little girl into an equally awkward girl. but a much more confident woman.”
He added: “Our story has been one of overcoming, accepting and reimagining. While we didn’t hit every milestone we set out to, we did pull off some crazy plays and it was the most incredible ride.
“You’ve humbled and exposed me more than I can count. In doing so, I found a strength I didn’t know I had. I know now that I can handle anything life throws at me.
“Through you, I have met some of my greatest mentors and friends, people I will bond with for the rest of my life. I’ve learned that moments are fleeting and that you have to stop every so often to take it all in. Because of this, I can now move intentionally and confidently in my next direction, and I’m so excited to see what unfolds.”
Williams has specialized in both the 200m and 400m during her senior career and boasts respective personal bests of 22.46 and 49.97.
The Brit won a stunning 200m silver at the 2014 European Championships, finishing behind Daphne Schippers in Zurich.
Williams also won an individual European bronze medal in the 400m over 400m, with only Femke Bol and Justina Swieti-Ersetic ahead of her in Torun.
Individual medal success was not limited to European level as Williams secured 200m silver and 400m bronze at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and Birmingham respectively.
Williams won a number of major relay medals and outside of the 4x400m bronze in Paris, one of her biggest successes was being part of the victorious British 4x100m team at Zurich 2014.
A prodigious young talent, Williams became both the junior and junior world champion over 100m, won the European junior titles in the 100m and 200m, and won gold at the European Under-23 Championships in half a lap.
