Rory Mcilroy liked his ball.
Jj Spaun then lost his own.
And that was very much. Playing TPC Sawgrass’ famous island-Green-Green, Mcilroy found the area of placement with its shot at 130-Oborr par-3 during Monday’s Play off with three holes that set the player championship. Spaun followed.
His ball never found land. Fully flew green. It sank at the bottom of the water, as did the spaun hopes for a victory of progress.
From there, Spaun was hit over the green from the fall area with his third shot, needed a chip to the green due to a shock and two strokes for a triple, while Mcilroy Bogeyed, giving him a pillow of Play off with three strokes going to the 18th hole.
There, Mcilroy withdrew again, Spaun was elected and Mcilroy won his second players and his second tour this year.
“A nightmare in 17,” said analyst Brad Faxon in the broadcast of the Golf Canal.
